A new Dark Souls game has been announced for 2018, but it’s not coming to PS4 or Xbox One.
The new Dark Souls release is actually a card game developed by Steamforged Games.
Steamforged is the company behind the successful Kickstarter-funded Dark Souls Board Game, which was recently delivered to backers.
It’s described as a co-operative deck evolution card game for 1-4 players.
“Players must explore the Encounters around them, defeating a myriad of enemies to gain Souls and Treasure,” Steamforged explains.
“They must use these to evolve and adapt their deck to better fight their enemies.”

But while decks are used to attack enemies, they also represent a player’s health.
The post continues: “Decks are only refreshed when the players rest at the bonfire, so players must defeat their enemies while husbanding their strength for the greater challenges ahead.
“Thinking quickly and adapting to the enemy’s attacks is key for survival. A misstep can be fatal, but the rewards of success are great.”
The Dark Souls Card Game has a March/April 2018 release date at retail, but will be delivered to backers in February 2018. Backers can also pre-order at the reduced price of £29.95.
Fans who backed the Dark Souls Board Game can pre-order the new release through the Backerkit, which re-opens at 8pm later tonight (August 10).
Non-backers will have a two week period in which they can pre-order.
The Card Game comes with over 400 cards, including starting deck cards, equipment cards, stamina cards, enemy cards, boss cards.
There are four bosses in total, all from Dark Souls 3. This includes Vordt of the Boreal Valley, Abyss Watcher, Pontiff Sulyvahn and High Lord Wolnir.
The pack also comes with a player board, encounter board, enemy board, 60 tokens and a rulebook.
