The episode saw Eva (played by Catherine Tyldesley) blindsided by her boyfriend when he reminded her she had her “12 week scan”, so she scrambled to fabricate a fake picture of their baby and found a way to ensure Aidan (Shayne Ward) was late to the hospital by reporting him to the police for drink driving.
After catching a glimpse of the factory-owner buying flowers earlier that day, Eva was filled with rage, but when Aidan pulled the car up to a screeching halt to find her waiting in the hospital car park, the truth suddenly became clear.
As Eva realised her boyfriend had purchased the flowers to lay on his mother’s grave, and she had unknowingly prevented him from visiting, her guilt was painfully obvious.
“I always put flowers on my mum’s grave on her birthday. I never got there though thanks to the police stopping me,” Aidan said, as Eva’s face dropped.
“Babe why didn’t you say?” she asked.
Unaware of her inner turmoil, Aidan explained that he’d only been thinking of her well-being, as he said: “Well I know how soft you are, I didn’t want to upset you.
“Besides, seeing this little one makes today a happy one, for once. My mum would have liked that,” he added.
Clearly devastated, Eva appeared to be reconsidering her decision to destroy her cheating partner’s life and take her revenge for his secret relationship with Maria Connor (Samia Ghadie).
The factory worker continued to apologise for the mix up that led to Aidan not being able to visit his mum’s grave while they were in Weatherfield’s main pub The Rover’s Return, as he remained blissfully unaware of the extent of Eva’s knowledge.
As Aidan seems to have given up on his dreams of a future with Maria, and continues to put his focus into his new “baby” and fianceé, will Eva begin to remember what she loved about him in the first place? Can they recover from the damage, and will Aidan ever discover that Eva knows the truth?
