Hairdresser David (played by Jack P. Shepherd) has struggled to come to terms with the revelation that Shona (Julia Goulding) is actually the mother of the thug who was responsible for the death of his wife Kylie Platt (Paula Lane).
But as the ITV soap ramps up the drama between the pair, now the father of Shona’s son Clayton Hibbs has come back to the cobbles to stir up trouble.
Dane Hibbs (Callum Harrison) abused the brunette when they were together, eventually forcing Shona to run away and attempt to keep her impressionable son far away from his influence.
It didn’t last long however, as Dane finally found them and convinced Clayton to come and live with him, in a decision that would lead to the troubled teen brutally killing Kylie.
The new pictures of filming show a determined David leaping on the brute as the pair exchange some intense looks.
Continuing to protect his new girlfriend, David then appears to threaten the newcomer while grabbing a fistful of his jacket.
But as the scene intensifies, Shona steps in to prevent the men from doing any irreversible damage, desperately trying to pull David away.
Dane, who is caught off guard by David’s sudden bravery, can be seen sporting a number of bloody plasters on his left knuckles, along with some fresh cuts.
Meanwhile, the Northern soap continues to shock viewers as Bistro businesswoman Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) is still being held captive by her kidnapper and ex-boyfriend Will Chatterton (Leon Ockenden).
Embroiled in a game of cat and mouse, Michelle’s current partner Robert Preston (Tristan Gemmill) has been desperately trying to discover her whereabouts, but mistakenly believes his old partner Rich (Fraser Ayres) is the culprit.
