Borussia Dortmund have signed Manchester City starlet Jadon Sancho.
The 17-year-old England youth international was regarded as one of City’s brightest talents.
Sancho, though, made it clear to the Premier League club that he wanted to leave this summer after turning down a professional contract.
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United were all keen on signing the winger, but City did not want to lose him to a domestic rival and were demanding huge compensation.
Now Dortmund have swooped to sign the youngster – who was voted best player at the Under-17 European Championship in May – for a fee understood to be around £8million.
City are also believed to have included a substantial sell-on clause in the deal.
Sancho has been handed the number seven shirt by the German giants, vacated by Ousmane Dembele after his £135.5million move to Barcelona.
Dortmund sports director Michael Zorc told the club’s website: “We are very pleased that Jadon Sancho, who is currently one of the greatest talents in European football, will definitely play at BVB.
“We are convinced that we can help this very young player continue to develop his game and become a real asset for our team.”
